Raised in the Chicago ‘burbs with Badger red blood in her veins, Aubre Andrus has been reading and writing stories since the first day she could read and write stories.

A journalism and film degree led her to her dream job as an editor at a national magazine. The web eventually seduced her, and she stepped into the land of social media and Internet marketing for an international fashion retail brand.

Now she runs her own freelance writing business working with her favorite brands and publications. She’s a crafty word nerd with a knack for brainstorming and an appetite for information and inspiration. Oh, she’s a published author, too.

I can karate chop my way through any monotonous month to find a fresh spin on seasonal crafts, recipes and party ideas. I have steady hands, patience and plenty of photo shoot styling experience which means I can magically turn my copy into a prototype or final prop.

As the resident “Martha Stewart for tweens” at American Girl, I created crafts, recipes and party ideas for a national lifestyle magazine for girls as well as for American Girl’s nationwide retail stores. Check out my party book for tweens coming out in 2013.

As an author of a handful of non-fiction activity books for tweens, this writer knows a thing or two about whipping words into fun content.

You don’t have to travel far from home to find your next adventure. And now you don’t have to look any further for your next travel feature.
I’m a travel writer who likes to do everything and eat everything while doing it. With my trusty Nikon at my side, I budget my time and money in the smartest way possible (with the occasional splurge). Find me eating my way through major U.S. and European cities as documented on my travel blog.

As a trained journalist, I’m not afraid to pick up the phone or step on the scene. I’ve interviewed both kids and adults, attended press conferences and court dates and barged into the mayor’s office uninvited to get that one quote.

My favorite place in college? Sitting at the City Desk at The Badger Herald daily newspaper office, followed by the Deputy News Editor desk… and eventually the old couch where I wrote most of my arts columns.
