I'm a children’s book author, freelance tech and travel writer, marketing copywriter, and social media consultant. I've been proudly running my own freelance writing business since 2011 and am lucky enough to call WIRED, Mashable, National Geographic Traveler, and American Girl just a few of my clients.
My unique background has turned me into a triple threat of marketing savviness, journalistic integrity, and creativity. My past clients have called me “an expert on branding,” “the best person for the job,” and “extremely gifted.” (Aww, thanks!) Feel free to add professional geek to that list. You can find me tweeting, Instagramming, and writing from various coffee shops in Chicago or around the world when I’m traveling.
I've developed and styled crafts and recipes for national magazines, books, and nationwide retail store events since 2006, both on-staff and as a freelancer. I’m also the author of party, quiz, and activity books for kids published by American Girl.
Thanks to my rigorous craft camp training as an editor at American Girl, I can karate chop my way through any monotonous month to find a fresh spin on seasonal activities, recipes, and party ideas for your publication. I promise to provide age-appropriate and easy-to-understand but still-fun-to-read steps that actually work. (Unlike Pinterest. Ahem.) FYI I've worked as a craft, prop, food, and wardrobe stylist on location and in the studio at photo shoots around the country for book covers, magazine covers, and features.

I belive that you don't have to travel far from home to find your next adventure. Sometimes it's as close as your own kitchen. Whether I'm exploring my hometown of Chicago or galavanting around the world, I plan my next move around what I'm going to eat next. Local culture is best experienced through a delicious meal and a cold beer.

As a trained journalist and former newspaper editor, I’m not afraid to pick up the phone or step on the scene. And I know how to write a compelling story whether it's for print or the web. I’ve interviewed everyone from kids to celebrites, attended everything from press conferences to restaurant openings to court dates, and barged into the mayor’s office uninvited to get that one quote.
I discovered my love for writing in college while sitting at the City Desk of The Badger Herald newspaper office. Here's my j-school advice: get out of the classroom and into a newsroom.

I'm an entrepreneur at heart, but I've yet to come up with my billion dollar idea. Until then, I want to help brilliant people get their business off the ground the only way I know how: with words.
A startup must look professional in front of potential investors and customers. That starts with your online image and the words you choose to communicate your brand. Grammar errors, spelling mistakes, and confusing verbiage can have dire consequences. I promise that your time spent with me is a worthy investment.
