Find me at the Scholastic Book Fair!

What's better than a Scholastic Book Fair? Well, let me tell you—seeing your OWN books at your kid's Scholastic Book Fair!

I love writing these middle grade novels for Scholastic in partnership with The Dodo. They're based on true stories, which means I get to put my journalism skills to use—lots of interviews, research, and reporting here! And then I take all of that research and translate it into a story arc that's appropriate for middle grade readers.

Do I cry writing these stories? Why, yes, yes I do. These stories are emotional but I'm mostly in awe of the kindness and compassion of the pet owners. They are truly so giving and ask for nothing in return.

I was pleased to have a booth at my daughters' elementary school's literacy festival the past two years. Though I've written many books, the kids are most drawn to these covers. How can you resist a cute animal cover?

If you look very closely you may find some craft books authored by me now and in the future as well as more cute animal books. I'll write for Scholastic Book Fairs as long as they'll have me!
